Let's power 20,000 houses for 20 years.

Working together in Virginia to construct non-profit solar farms—passionate about climate change solutions.

Mission

To convert the electric grid to clean, renewable energy, we'll have to do it at massive scale.

One house at a time isn't fast enough for the planet’s needs. We need solar farms across the globe that can each power thousands of houses.

Zenman Energy is building non-profit solar farms to get us closer to the vision of Sustainable Development Goal 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

  • Solar energy credits produced will be reinvested to build more solar farms, but we need financial donations to get started.
  • A guerilla volunteer crew from the local community will construct the farm—on a plot of land in Southeastern Virginia and a shipping container full of materials.
  • Initial donations will create exponential growth in solar power—all streamed back into the grid to replace fossil fuel energy.

Zenman Energy is a 501(c)3 non-profit, which means donations are tax-deductible. We want to take the greed out of solving climate change. Our goal is not financial profit but to ensure humanity continues to exist for generations to come.

We're doing our part by cleaning up the electric grid. And we need your help.

solar panels as renewable source of energy on a green grass farmland

Solar panels produce electricity for less than the cost of burning fossil fuels.

Full shipping containers of solar panels only cost 50% of they retail for in the USA.

One acre of solar panels can power hundreds of houses for over 20 years.

Donating your time to help install panels on a solar farm cuts the cost in half—we need volunteers to help!

Ensuring access to sustainable energy for all contributes to equitable and inclusive communities.

We're joining a global trend towards increasing the share of renewable energy by 2030 with solar energy.

Volunteer

Just about anyone (even teenagers!) can help build a solar farm.

It's okay if you're not a skilled electrician or engineer. We need excited people ready to donate a weekend to working with us on beautiful farmland.

You can learn everything you don't already know how to do.

But we do need a few electricians and engineers! So, if that's you, please donate your time!

When we are ready to start building, we'll invite volunteers to the farm and group them together with small tasks:

  • Move mounting brackets from container to the field
  • Bolt brackets together
  • Carry solar panels to mounting brackets
  • Bolt panels to brackets

It just takes one weekend and anyone can learn the tasks necessary to do the majority of the work, so grab a hard hat and join right on in!

To keep everyone safe, we'll leave electrical work to professionals. Connecting and securing wires should be done by skilled electricians. And we want to ensure it's all done according to the national electrical code. We'll secure permits and meet all inspections.

Just like Habitat for Humanity needs volunteers to build houses, we need volunteers to build solar farms.

Dominion Power wants to add over a gigawatt of solar power to the Virginia electric grid.

After 20 years, solar panels still produce electricity—just at a reduced rate.

A single acre of farmland can support 500 solar panels that produce 500 watts each.

10 acres of farmland in Southeast Virginia and a shipping container of solar panels...

We expect our 2022 solar farm to produce 200KW of electricity—enough to power 40 homes for the next 25 years. The project will cost $200,000 but will only use 10% of the land, which means there's room to grow the solar farm 10x with future builds.

We'll reinvest all proceeds from selling the electricity to the grid to purchase more panels until all 10 acres are filled.

The initial solar farm can fund future phases, meaning we'll build another farm every two years. Using a volunteer crew and removing profit keeps our return on investment (ROI) low and easily replicable.
